Medical Camp Nala DSL 2015-03

Venue: Dhagpo Shedrup Ling Monastery/School of Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpche in Nala/Nepal

Here in Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche’s new monastery we have conducted a basic examination for a total of 101 pupils between 5 and 17 years as well as 20 teachers and the monastery staff. Dr.dent. Daniel Hess was able to help many patients with our mobile dental unit.

Dr. Sonam documented everything very nicely, so that every monk now has his own health booklet for documenting all relevant data and information. The medical room in Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche’s monastery, which had long been planned in collaboration with the KHCP, has been outfitted with a rudimentary First-Aid kit and is supervised by a monk who has been trained by Dr. Sonam.

Ron organised a very well received instruction on hygiene. It was our pleasure to immediately see the little ones wash their hands as instructed and practised. There was also a session on diabetes for some of the adults. Everyone was immensely happy and thankful of our medical operation. As we stayed at the monastery we were able to conduct many informative conversations and partake in the pujas. Our departure was very amicable. They look forward to our return and care in the future.

On our last day we made a trip to Namo Buddha, an incredibly beautifully situated monastery in the mountains with a wonderful view of the Himalayas. For lunch, we were invited to Dhulikhel Hospital, where could convince ourselves of the quality of the hospital. The cooperation with Karmapa’s Healthcare Project is amazing, and Dr. Sonam is an outstanding staff member.
