July 10, 2011: Hygiene education classes in Swayambhu/Kathmandu/Nepal
Street Dog Care went to Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche’s monastery and school in Swayambhu to distribute the "My dog is my best friend" booklet to the young monks! We told them about our work with stray dogs in Boudha and told them that every being deserves care and a happy life. As dogs are unable ask for help when they are sick, we try to help them and give them what they need. In addition, our booklet explains how to keep a dog happy and healthy, and the little monks showed keen interest in hearing all the stories and they loved colouring in the books.
Next Saturday we will meet them again to award prizes to the winners of our painting and dog story writing competition. All participants will get a small prize and the winners will receive a red t-shirt from Street Dog Care.
Thank you to Pia and Peter from the KHCP-Karmapas Healthcare Project to make this joyful event possible!
In the future both projects will continue their collaboration in order to maintain peoples’ awareness of how animals and humans can live together hygenically.
