Maha Vihar Swayambhu of H.H.Karmapa Thaye Dorje

On 6 December 2018, H.H Karmapa Thaye Dorje visited the site of Maha Vihar Swayambhu.
Swayambhu was severely damaged in the 2015 earthquakes, and is now in the process of reconstruction. The old buddha statue of the collapsed building is settled up in an improvised altar at the former entrance.

When we now went up with Dr. Angelika, we met our old friend Pemba, who nowadays takes care on the statue.
Since we started the KHCP in 2005 Swayambhu was one of the first places we took in our health program and we always met the old lamas of the 16.th Karmapa and Pemba doing his job to manage the butter lamp offerings here.
