March 4-6,2013: Medical/Dental Camp in Rumtek/Sikkim/India

Our medical team consisted of three physicians and one nurse. Dr.dent. Regina Oettke, the dentist, had more than enough to do. She examined all monks and nuns and treated those who needed treatment. We also examined the 36 students of the neighboring state school, who were really in need of medical care, particularly because none of them had healthy teeth. We carried out a teeth brushing training and hygiene teaching and distributed tooth brushes and tooth paste...

March 03, 2013: KHCP-Medical/Dental Camp at Shedra Kalimpong/India
"We have been welcomed very heartily and hospitable by the students of the Buddhist University Kalimpong. Then the KHCP-team provided medical and dental treatments for everybody here. Regina checked the teeth and did some fillings. More then 50 persons used our offer. Next day we travelled on to Rumtek."

Annual Report 2012:
The year 2012 was marked by some reorganization, new tasks and various new collaborations. Karmapa’s Healthcare Project is 7 years old now and it is time that our young friends in the East and West take over parts of the work. We have an online-office now... Altogether, more than 100 healthcare professionals and helpers from more than 20 nations and three different continents were travelling volunteerly over the winter... New collaboration between KHCP and Dhulikhel Hospital, we have now the chance to provide broad and permanent healthcare in our Kagyu institutes.

Febr. 25, 2013: Works meeting with Dupsing Rinpoche, Kathmandu/Nepal
In a works meeting the financial reports of the monasteries of Shangpa Rinpoche in Pokhara and Kathmandu were checked by Dupsing Rinpoche and Pia/Peter from KHCP. Furthermore, they talked about the medical plans for 2013. Rinpoche offered to be the contact person for future activities of the KHCP at all four monasteries/nunnery (being in the KHCProject) of Shangpa Rinpoche in Nepal.

March 02, 2013: Checkups at Beru Kyentse Rinpoche´s Monastery in Boudha/Kathmandu
The KHCP visited Beru Kyentse Rinpoche's monastery in Boudha. The young monks getted examined by the physician, dentist and optician. Anna and Inka (volunteers at place) showed the team around and they talked about the medical situation...

23.2.- 6.3.2013 Due to the fruitful collaboration of the KHCP physicians with the Manang-Social-Services-Committee and their physicians and the cooperation with "Dentist & Friends" from Munich as well as with our optician team, we could again carry out several hundreds of treatments. Patients came from: Manang Lay Society, monks and nuns of Swayambhu, Orphanage "Spark Children Project Kathmandu", Monks of Sang Sang Rinpoche of Lhun Drup Cho Ling Monastery, Sershang Orphanage of Chogyal Rinpoche in Kimdol...

Febr. 27, 2012: Doctors Meeting in Dhulikhel/Nepal
After a journey with lovely views of the Himalayan eight-thousanders, our KHCP team arrived at Dhulikhel Hospital near Namo Buddha. We were warmly welcomed by the administrative staff and invited to the doctors’ cafeteria for sustenance. After that, Dr. Ram’s doctors and heads of the departments showed us around all the departments of the hospital. We had a lively exchange of information about the various activities of both sides. ...In the end, our team had a meeting with Dr. Ram Sheestra (founder and director of the hospital). ... the KHCP directors handed over to him a donation of 10,000 € for the installation of a large emergency power generator (100 kilowatts) for the childbirth department...

Febr. 27, 2012: Visit of the new Nala Monastery near Namo Buddha
The KHCP team visited the construction site of the new monastery of Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche at Nala near Dhulikhel (near Namo Buddha, east of Kathmandu). Lama Lekshey and Rangjung Lama welcomed us with a tea ceremony. After that, Rangjung showed us all rooms and premises...

12/2012: 5th KHCP-Medical Camp in Bodhgaya/India
The Kagyu Mönlam 2012 took place between December 14 and 21, with approximately 6,000 devotees in attendance... For the fifth time this year, the KHCP - Karmapa´s Healthcare Project provided free medical checkups and healthcare for participants in the Mönlam as well as the local population...

KHCP-Note and HNY Happy New Year Wishes 2013
As usual we start with Medicalcamps in Kathmandu at Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoches place together with the Manang community. First time we`ll do a camp at Shamarpa´s new monastery in Raniban.
Then our medical-camp-group will split, one half will visits Pokhara and Muktinath and the other will go up via Kalimpong to Rumtek to help Karmapa´s people in the remote area and bring Rumtek Hospital forward ...

Dec. 5-7,2012: Medical camp, inspection and meeting in Rumtek/Sikkim/India

The KHCP provided a free medical camp (dermatologic screening) for the monks and nuns as well for the local habitants. We also could handover plenty of UV-protected sunglasses to the monks and nuns... The first on-site inspection of the old ruined Rumtek hospital took place. Then we had a meeting with the chairmen of the "Rumtek Monks and Lays Society" and the principles of our three Kagyü-monasteries/nunnery. We alltogether express our wish to  provide more medical support for the people in Rumtek and the remote areas...

Dec 04, 2012:  KHCP-Medical Camp at Shedra Kalimpong
The KHCP provided a dermatologic checkup for all monks and the staff of the Shedra in Kalimpong.

Nov.13, 2012: Lama Rangjung (Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche), Pia and Peter (KHCP) went to Dhulikhel and had a fruitful talk with Dr. Ram Sheestra (director) and his administratives. They planned to connect all Kagyü-institutes/monasteries to this hospital for urgent cases.

Nov 22-23, 2012:  KHCP-Medicalcamp at KIBS in Kirtipur/Kathmandu.

In colaboration with 8 doctors of the Dhulikhel Hospital, the KHCP provided a free medicalcamp for the monks and nuns as well for the local habitants of Kirtipur. The checkups happened at Shangpa Rinpoche´s monastery (KIBS) during the teachings/empowerment of Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche.

Nov 19, 2012: In a works meeting in July 2012 Shamar Rinpoche offered a room for KHCP in his new monastery construction in Kathmandu. Now the KHCP met the architect Willi Kroeger of Shamarpa at place. Willi showed us the whole construction area of the monastery incl. the future medical room.

Dec 12-22, 2012: The KHCP will do their 5th Kagyü Mönlam Medicalcamp at the bodhi tree. Every friend are very welcome to join our volunteer team in any way. Again we are expecting more than 3000 patients. Watch the video to learn what the Mönlam is...

KHCP-Clinic Project Rumtek/Sikkim/India - 2012 Part1
According to the wish of H.H. 17th Karmapa the old Rumtek hospital is to be re-established. In March 2012, both his Holiness Gyalwa Karmapa and Jigme Rinpoche assigned the task of building the medical structure of the hospital  to the KHCP. We have been supporting Karmapa’s nunnery, Shamar Rinpoche’s school and Nedo Rinpoche’s monastery in Rumtek since 2005. Now, we are ready to start this project!
